Detailed Itinerary of the Safari

Day 1: Arrive for City Tour around Kampala

Arrive at the Entebbe International Airport where you meet our driver guide who welcomes you then briefs you about the safari and later transfers you on City Tour around Kampala. On reaching Kampala, visit many attractions like the Kasubi Tombs, Bahai Temple, Namugongo Uganda Martry’s Shrine, King’s Palace Bulange etc. Afterwards, he shall take you to hotel or lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Day 2: Drive to Kibale Forest National Park

Early morning breakfast then continue on journey to Kibale Forest National Park situated in the Western Part of Uganda after the busy calm town of Fort Portal. This journey takes you a period of 7 hours watching the green terrain, bird species with lunch en-route. After sometime, you shall get to the park and check-in lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking at Kibale Forest National Park

The 3rd Day of the 12 Days Mt Rwenzori Hike and Chimpanzee Tour offers you a chance to track and watch the rare species of Chimpanzees. You shall have breakfast in the morning then proceed to the Kanyanchu Visitor’s Center for short briefing on conduct around the Chimpanzees.

On reaching the park headquarters, get welcomed by a park ranger guide who gives you information about Kibale Forest National Park and its attractions. After a while, you are allocated into groups of 8 with lead park rangers who transfer you into the green forest to trek the chimpanzees for a period of 2 to 4 hours.

After a while trekking the chimpanzees in the forest, you shall meet them and in an hour stay in their presence taking many photos to keep with you. Watch them play, forage, communicate, breast feed, lead and pose. After chimpanzee trekking, return back to your lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Kibale Forest Camp.

Day 4: Drive to Kasese at Nyakaleginja

Morning breakfast then proceed on transfer to Kasese at Nyakalengija for a journey that takes you a period of 7 to 8 hours watching views of the green terrain, birds. Lunch is en-route. After a while reach the Ranger’s Patrol Post then after proceed to check-in lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Equator Snow Lodge.

Day 5: Drive To Nyakalengija Along Mountain Rwenzori

The 5th Day of the 12 Days Mt Rwenzori Hike and Chimpanzee Trek begins with delicious breakfast then continue to the park headquarters for short briefing on conduct while climbing the Mountain. The guides inform you about Mountain Rwenzori, Hiking Adventures to the highest point at Magherita Peak. Later proceed to check-in lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Equator Snow Lodge.

Day 6: Nyakalengija -Nyabitaba Hut 2.652 M

Today the hike begins after reaching the park headquarters at Nyakalengija early in the morning where you are briefed by the park ranger guides on conduct about climbing Mountain Rwenzori.

Later on, you are allocated into groups then leave from Nyakalengija post and proceed on hike to an altitude of 1,646m to Nyabitaba Hut, 2,652 m. After arriving at the Nyabitaba Hut, relax, have Dinner and Overnight.

Day 7: Nyabitaba-John Matte Hut 3,414 M

On the 7th Day of the 12 Days Mount Rwenzori Hike and Chimpanzee Trek, you shall leave Nyabitaba Hut to the trail leading westwards for a half kilometers until you reach North steeply to Kurf Shafer Bridge. This hike takes you a period of 7 hours ascending from Nyabitaba hut to John Matte hut via Bujuku River and Mubuku River. The hike here is very steep and slippery till you reach to John Matte hut for Dinner and Overnight.

Day 8: John Matte-Bujuku Hut 3,962 M

You proceed on your hike for a period of 3 to 5 hours till you reach John Matte and when you get here traverse Bujuku River and access the Bigo bog section. You shall later reach the drier ground up to Bujuku River a back drop of Mount Baker and Mount Speke as they head North. Dinner and Overnight at Bujuku Hut.

Day 9: Bujuku- Elena

Breakfast then continue the hike West of Bujuku Hut on newer trails heading to Elena Hut (4,372m). Dinner and Overnight stay.

Day 10: Elena-Kitandara Hut 4,023 M

On the 10th Day of the 12 Days Mount Rwenzori Hike and Chimpanzee Trek, have breakfast then embark on ascent from Elena glacier to the Stanley Plateau. Get out your crampons to enable you have a balanced  hike/trek traversing the Elena Hut, Punta Margherita until you reach Kitandara Hut. Proceed on ascent to the Margherita glacier then Summit for 3 hours and while here, take many photos to keep with you and after proceed on descent to the Elena Hut until you reach the upper region of Lake Kitandara.

Continue through thick mud to lower Lake Kitandara at (4.023m) for 3 hours till you get at the Kitandara Hut then to Mount Baker/ Mount Luigi di Savoia and the peak Vittorio Sella. En-route have beautiful views of Mt. Luigi di Savoia. Dinner and Overnight at Kitandara Hut.

Go on transfer From Lake Kitandara at 4.282 m then to fresh field pass via the high alpine mossy glades descending among rocky and boggy regions. Around this region, you view glaciers of Mount Stanley and Baker. Continue following through muddy trails to Akendali, Bujongolo Kabamba rock shelters where the Kabamba valley starts and continues to the Guy Yeoman Hut surrounded by beautiful terrain including Mountains, vegetation and rivers for a period of 6 hours. Dinner and Overnight at Guy Yeoman Hut.

Day 11: Guy Yeoman-Nyakalengija-Rwenzori Base

Morning breakfast on the 11th Day of the 12 Days Mount Rwenzori Hike and Chimpanzee Trek then embark on ascent to the steep slopes near Mubuku River stretching via Kichuchu rock shelter. After a while, you shall find the main route close to the conjunction of River Bujuku for a period of 3 and a half hours.

Day 12: Kasese-Kampala/ Entebbe

Breakfast in the morning then for a period of 2 hours to Nyakalengija then after reaching here, meet the driver guide to transfer you to Kampala or the Entebbe International airport to board flight back home.
