Detailed Itinerary of the Tour

Day 1: Arrive and get to Mgahinga National Park

You arrive at the Entebbe International airport where you meet our driver guide to brief you about the 7 Days Uganda Gorillas, Golden Monkeys & Hiking Tour. Later he shall transfer you to the South Western Part of Uganda at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The journey takes you a period of 7 to 8 hours via the Mbarara Highway to Kisoro Town. Lunch is en-route. You shall reach the park and check-in lodge for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Ikoro Lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla Trek in Mgahinga National Park

Today is Gorilla Trekking Day in the Park as you get to trek and watch the rare species of Mountain Gorillas in their natural forest vegetation habitat. Enjoy early morning breakfast at 6:30 am then after head to the Park headquarters for briefing on conduct around the Mountain Gorillas. On reaching here, you are welcomed by a park ranger guide who briefs you informing you about Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Gorilla Trekking as well as the various safari adventures you can do in the park.

After briefing, you shall be distributed into groups of 8 with lead rangers who transfer you to the starting points where you leave from to enter the green forest vegetation. You enter the forest following varying trails from one point to another searching for the Gorillas for a period of 3 to 5 hours following instructions provided by the ranger trackers who provide you with adequate information about the current location of the Gorillas.

After sometime, you shall meet the rare species of Mountain Gorillas then in an hour stay in their presence taking many photos with a camera that has no flash at a distance of 7 meters. After trekking the Gorillas, you shall return to the park headquarters for your Gorilla Trekking certificate then after you proceed to your 4×4 wheel vehicle to transfer you back to lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Day 3: Trek Golden Monkeys at Mgahinga National Park

Go Golden Monkey Tracking Today on the 3rd Day of the Safari. Have morning breakfast then continue to the park headquarters for precise briefing about the conduct around the Golden Monkeys. The Park ranger guide later distributes you into groups of 8 with lead park rangers who lead you into the green forest to trek the Golden Monkeys for a period of 2 to 4 hours.

After sometime, you shall meet the Golden Monkeys and stay in their presence following them along varying trails as you take photos to keep with you as they jump from one tree branch to another. You watch them groom, breast feed, communicate, forage, play etc.

Witness tender bonds between mothers and infants. Each moment spent in the presence of these magnificent creatures is a testament to the wonder and beauty of the natural world.

After being in the presence of the Golden Monkeys, you return to the base camp where you shall leave from to the lodge for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Ikoro Lodge.

Day 4: Hike Mount Sabinyo Volcano

Breakfast in the morning then proceed on hike along Mount Sabinyo Volcano. You shall transfer to the starting point where you get briefed on conduct as you hike to the top of the Mountain Volcano. After the briefing session, you are allocated into differing groups with gear like sturdy hiking boots, warm layers, plenty of water and essential supplies. You shall then embark on hike.

Follow the trail through lush green montane forest, bamboo groves as you enjoy views of the green terrain vegetation, wilderness, colorful bird species till you reach the summit. You shall continue on hike along rugged ridges, rocky slopes using handholds and footholds to scramble up the rugged terrain.

After a while hiking, you shall reach the summit of Mount Sabinyo Volcano where you view two distinct peaks each marking the border between Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The hike takes you a period of 8 hours that is 4 hours to climb and 4 hours to descend. After the hike, you descend back to the starting point where you leave from to lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Day 5: Hike Mount Gahinga Volcano

Day 3 of the 7 Days Gorillas, Golden Monkeys & Hiking Tour begins with a hearty morning breakfast then after get to the starting point for briefing on conduct as you hike Mount Gahinga Volcano. You shall be allocated into groups with your hiking gear then with porters carrying your luggage embark on hike viewing rich biodiversity, green terrain, bird species etc.

Follow the trail to summit of Mount Gahinga Volcano through dense montane forests, towering trees and verdant green vegetation and as you get deeper into the forest continue on trail up the summit. On your way, watch many wildlife species like Golden Monkeys, Mountain Gorillas and bird species.

Proceed on hike through steep and challenging terrain, rocky outcrops and rugged slopes. After sometime, you reach the top of the summit and enjoy views of the Crater Lake located within the volcano’s caldera. This hike takes you a period of 6 hours i.e 3 hours ascent and 3 hours descent. You take many photos to keep with you then after embark on descent to the starting point where you leave from to your lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Ikoro Lodge.

Day 6: Hike Mount Muhavura Volcano

Morning breakfast then embark to the starting point for precise briefing on conduct while hiking Mount Muhavura Volcano. Prepare your hiking Gear like sturdy hiking boots, warm layers, plenty of water and snacks etc. Begin your hike inclining gradually through lush green forest vegetation and valleys. The Trail deepens as you follow through rocky terrain, boulders, loose scree a very challenging part of the hike.

After a while, you shall reach the summit and enjoy stunning views of the Crater Rim, surrounding terrain and the Virunga Massif, rolling hills, lush valleys and distant peaks. Take many photos to keep of you about the summit then after proceed on descent to the base/ starting point where you celebrate your accomplishments, bid farewell to your fellow trekkers and guides. After head to your car to transfer you back to lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Ikoro Lodge.

Day 7: Depart to Kampala or Entebbe

On the final day of the 7 Days Gorillas, Golden Monkeys & Hiking Tour have breakfast then depart back to Kampala or the Entebbe International Airport to board flight back home.
