Detailed Itinerary of the Tour

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Mgahinga National Park

The 6 Days Golden Monkeys, Sabinyo, Gahinga, Muhavura Hike in Uganda starts with arriving at the Entebbe International Airport where you are briefed on the safari then the driver will transfer you to lodge/ hotel in Entebbe for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Ikoro Lodge.

Day 2: Golden Monkey tracking at Mgahinga National Park

Today is Golden Monkey Tracking Day in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. You have breakfast in the morning then proceed to the park headquarters for short briefing about the conduct around the Golden Monkeys then after you are allocated into groups with a lead park ranger to take you trek the Golden Monkeys through the thick dense green forest. You shall trek through the forest from one trail to another for a period of 2 to 4 hours.

After a while, you shall meet the Golden Monkeys and stay in their presence as they jump from one tree branch to another in excitement then with your camera take very many photos to keep.

Trekkers have the rare opportunity to observe their natural behaviors up close and these include; grooming, breast feeding, communicating, foraging, playing etc. You shall witness the tender bonds between mothers and infants. Each moment spent in the presence of these magnificent creatures is a testament to the wonder and beauty of the natural world.

After being in the presence of the Golden Monkeys, you shall return to the base camp where you shall leave from to the lodge for relaxation, Dinner and Overnight. Ikoro Lodge.

Day 3: Hike Mount Sabinyo Volcano

Have breakfast in the morning then embark on hike along Mount Sabinyo Volcano. You shall transfer to the starting point where you shall be briefed on conduct as you hike to the top of the Mountain Volcano. After you are allocated to differing groups, arrange your gear i.e sturdy hiking boots, warm layers, plenty of water and essential supplies then start on your hike.

You follow the trail leading through verdant green montane forest, bamboo groves as you enjoy views of the green terrain vegetation, wilderness, colorful birds along steep challenging trails that require you to be determined so as to reach the summit. Follow the the trail along rugged ridges, rocky slopes using handholds and footholds to scramble up the rugged terrain.

On reaching the summit of Mount Sabinyo Volcano, you shall view two distinct peaks each marking the border between Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. This hike takes you a period of 8 hours i.e 4 hours to climb and 4 hours descending. After the hike, you shall descend back to the starting point where you leave from to lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Ikoro Lodge.

Day 4: Hike Mount Gahinga Volcano

Day 3 of the 6 Days Golden Monkeys, Sabinyo, Gahinga, Muhavura Hike in Uganda starts with early morning breakfast then after get to the starting point for briefing on conduct as you hike the Mount Gahinga Volcano then after you are put into into groups with your hiking gear. With porters carrying your luggage embark on hike viewing rich biodiversity, green terrain, bird species etc.

Follow the trail to summit of Mount Gahinga Volcano through dense montane forests, towering trees and verdant green vegetation and as you get deeper into the forest continue on trail up the summit. En-route you encounter various wildlife species like Golden Monkeys, Mountain Gorillas and bird species.

Continue on trail as it gets more steep and challenging, requiring you to be dedicated and focused to get to the top as navigate through rocky outcrops and rugged slopes. After a while, you shall reach the top of the summit and enjoy views of the Crater Lake situated within the volcano’s caldera.

The Hike takes you a period of 6 hours i.e 3 hours ascent and 3 hours descent. After taking photos at the summit, you shall descend back to the starting point where you leave from to your lodge for Dinner and Overnight. Ikoro Lodge.

Day 5: Hike Mount Muhavura Volcano

Breakfast in the morning then continue to the starting point for short briefing on conduct as you hike to the top of the Mount Muhavura Volcano.

Gather and prepare your hiking gear like sturdy hiking boots, warm layers, plenty of water and snacks etc then start hiking along the trail with a gradual incline through verdant green forests and valleys.

As the trail deepens, you continue along rocky terrain, boulders, loose scree a challenging park of the hike making you to be more physically fit to get to the summit. On reaching the summit have beautiful views of the Crater Rim, surrounding terrain and the Virunga Massif, rolling hills, lush valleys and distant peaks.

After taking photos at the summit. You’ll descend from the mountains and return to the starting point, where you can celebrate your accomplishments, bid farewell to your fellow trekkers and guides, and reflect on the memories made during your journey to the summit. Day 6: Depart to Kampala or Entebbe

On the final day of the 6 Days Golden Monkeys, Sabinyo, Gahinga, Muhavura Hike in Uganda you shall have breakfast then depart back to Kampala or the Entebbe International Airport to board flight back home.
